Get A Card

What’s this library card business all about anyway?

An MHPL library card allows you to do more than simply borrow books and other materials. You can also use your card to access our online databases from home . There are two different library cards used at The Medicine Hat Public Library: a Member Library Card is needed to borrow circulating items, use online databases from home and renew or reserve books. An Internet Access Card is used to access our public internet computers within the library.

Do I need a library card to use the collections of The Medicine Hat Public Library? You will need a Member Card only if you wish to borrow materials or use the online databases on this website from outside the Library. You do not need a card for onsite use of any of our materials, except the internet. You will need an Internet Access Card if you wish to use the internet in the library. You cannot borrow materials or view the online databases with this card.
How much does it cost? It’s FREE !! (Isn’t that awesome!). But only until you’re 17, then it’s $5.00 per year (Still a great deal!!) The Internet Access Card is free.Proof of Identity is required.
